Florida National Guard

Florida Statewide Prevention Conference

The month of October is a very busy month for Prevention personnel throughout the United States, culminating with Red Ribbon Week. The Florida National Guard was no exception!

MAJ John Dethlefs, Drug Demand Reduction Administrator, led a group of National Guardsmen by attending the Florida Statewide Prevention Conference at the beginning of October in Orlando, FL. Attending the event with MAJ Dethlefs were CW2 Todd Berlinghof, 1SG Alain Roque, and 1LT Nathan Dinger.

Their purpose was to inform participants about their structured programs and youth leadership opportunities. The main attraction was Stay on Track! Many of the attendees at the conference were teachers and they wanted additional information about the free Guard program that meets over 100 Sunshine State Standards and provides students the knowledge and skills needed to reduce risk factors, and increase protective factors concerned with drugs and alcohol.

The Florida National Guard has been very supportive of Stay on Track and NCPRS over the last three years, and we’d like to extend a special thank you to all of them and we are grateful for their efforts throughout the year in reaching youth, family, and teachers.
