RAD Racers, Tom and Sandy Shaffer Earn President's Award for Volunteerism!

By Todd Smekens

As part of their volunteer efforts with the Race Against Drugs programs, Tom and Sandy Shaffer of Oxford, PA, won the President’s Award for Volunteerism within their community. Because of the award received, Tom was chosen to be a Greeter for President Bush at the Philadelphia Airport during one of his visits to Boeing Helicopters.

In a show of appreciation, some of the Greeters were invited to the White House, along with representatives of the Peace Corp and several other volunteer organizations across the country.

We would like to thank Tom and Sandy Shaffer for their continued support of NCPRS and the RAD Racing Team, and for sharing their story and photographs with staff and other supporters of our programs!
